ACCOMMODATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN SUAHAB AND STUDENT TENANT 

ABOUT

The University has a number of hostels at EMC, SMC and MPC that cater for undergraduate accommodation needs. Currently, the university facilities have a carrying capacity of 3487 undergraduate students. These facilities are managed by the Sokoine University of Agriculture Housing and Accommodation Bureau (SUAHAB). 

Accommodation services are coordinated by the Sokoine University of Agriculture Housing and Accommodation Bureau (SUAHAB).

SUAHAB has accommodation space for 3487 undergraduate students a as shown below:-

Since the accommodation facilities are not adequate, SUAHAB has devised a prioritization system for allocating room to students. Hence students may be offered accommodation in the University residence in order of the priority as following:-

PRIORITY ORDER OF ALLOCATION OF ROOMS

  1. Students with physical disability/health challenges
  2. International Students
  3. First year students
  4. Female students
  5. Finalist students (males)
  6. Continuing students (males)

RATES OF ACCOMMODATION PAYMENTS

Undergraduate and non-degree programmes

      Rooms are shared by two to six students

(i) First year

  • International Students: Accommodation fee is USD 140 per student per year.
  • Local students : Accommodation fee is TShs. 175,690.00 per first year student per year (TShs. 10,000.00 depreciation fee non-refundable inclusive) for main campus hostels, Nicholas A. Kuhanga, Ex-NBC Flats and Solomon Mahlangu Campus.

(ii) Continuing and finalists

  • International Students: Accommodation fee is USD 140 per student per year.
  • Local students : Accommodation fee is total payment of TShs. 161,280.00 per continuing student per year for main campus hostels, Nicholas A. Kuhanga, Ex-NBC Flats and Solomon Mahlangu Campus.

 

ROOM RESERVATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023

A room can be reserved after paying in advance full accommodation fee of USD 70 per undergraduate student per semester and USD 1,200 per postgraduate student per year. 

ACCOMMODATION DURING LONG VACATION

  1. a) Field Practical

    (i) SUA local students: TShs.1,250.00 per day per bed

    (ii) Local students from other institutions: Tshs.1,350.00 per day per bed.

    (iii) International students : USD 1.1 (or equivalent Tshs.) per day per bed.

  1. b) Probation examinations: 

     (i) Local students: Tshs. 630.00 per day per bed

     (iii) International students : USD 0.50 (or equivalent Tshs.) per day per bed.

  1. c) Seminars, conference, games and sports:  6,000.00 per day per bed.

Different groups (students and non-students) wishing to stay in our hostels during long vacation are warmly welcome.
