Dr. Hamis Juma Tindwa is the fourth and current Director of the Directorate of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) at Sokoine University of Agriculture in Morogoro, Tanzania. Dr. Tindwa assumed his role on December 20, 2023, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a commitment to advancing the academic landscape.
Current Position and Leadership:
As the Director of DUS, Dr. Tindwa oversees the strategic direction of undergraduate studies at Sokoine University of Agriculture. Since taking on this pivotal role, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a forward-thinking approach to educational development.
Previous Leadership Roles:
Before stepping into his current position, Dr. Tindwa served as the Head of the Department of Soil and Geological Sciences (DSGS), and Deputy Principal of the College of Agriculture (CoA) at Sokoine University of Agriculture. His tenure as the head of DSGS witnessed significant advancements in the academic and research endeavors.
Academic and Professional Journey:
Dr. Tindwa’s academic journey is marked by a commitment to excellence and a passion for soil sciences. He has been an integral part of the Sokoine University of Agriculture community since August 2008, currently contributing as a Senior Lecturer in Soil microbiology/ biochemistry and soil health within the Department of Soil Science. His dedication to academia is further evidenced by his role as a Research Associate in the Soil Water Management Research Programme from 2007 to 2010.
